 Green glass Inkwell

"No associations come for free, they cost the neurones dear" ...so says Margaret Drabble.
A fresh associative pair appeared right here in my studio yesterday with little neuronal effort.

Green Glass Inkwell.

In bosky autumn light,  as I awaited inspiration, a young wood pigeon strayed into the studio.
Seeing the image of his trees through the high window,  he did his best  to fly  towards their safety but was
prevented by the mysterious transparent screen that is our window.
Flapping  to regain his orientation he dislodged part of my green glass bottle collection arranged
against the light....
Down came the bird,
Down came the glass.
An old green inkwell burst on the stone floor.
Inky Shards lay still
Soft white feathers floated.
A hundred year old inkwell's last task was to help me write.
